The LEOLUT Antenna is a phased-array antenna that allows satellite ground stations (LUT) to track Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. It is a light weight, roof mounted antenna with digitally controlled motors which provide the entire range of motion required to track the COSPAS-SARSAT satellites.
The LEOLUT Antenna's reinforced radome and aluminum base are corrosion-resistant to provide years of maintenance-free use. The low cross-section of the radome enables the antenna to operate in winds of up to 300 km/hr - a crucial requirement during hurricane or typhoon conditions that typically lead up to emergency situations.
Since 1988, the EMS SATCOM LEOLUT phased-array antenna technology has been proven in operational use on many satellite ground station installations around the world. EMS SATCOM LUT, MCC and RCC systems have been playing a key role in the expansion of the worldwide SAR network and are currently used by the majority of countries that participate in the COSPAS-SARSAT program.
